Patient Safety Awareness Week

Patient Safety Awareness Week

When you or a loved one ends up seeking medical care for a sudden illness or infection, your nurses, doctors and loved ones all want the same outcome: for you to get better as quickly as possible.

When it comes to patient safety, your healthcare team wants to make sure that you are protected from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections all while receiving quality care in a timely manner.

Patient safety is an important element of an effective health care system that provides quality care and focuses on safety to avoid making costly mistakes.

This week is Patient Safety Awareness Week (March 13-19), which raises awareness on the importance of providing quality medical care to prevent errors, and provides a culture that involves all health care professionals, organizations, and patients.  Patient safety is something everyone should be aware of for the reduction of medical mistakes.

To reduce medical errors during an emergency visit, you can:

  • Ask questions if you have doubts or concerns.
  • Speak up immediately if you see something that seems unsafe or makes you uncomfortable.
  • Make sure you understand what will happen should you need minor surgery or if you are receiving any medications.
  • Make your health care providers are aware of any medications or dietary supplements you take.

At FirstCall Medical Center, we understand that emergencies require immediate attention.  We give patients the care they need at the speed they need it, so they can get back to their busy lives.

To expedite your care, we provide same day treatment with on-site lab and x-ray services to better assist in the care of your visit with us.
